About Us

What is the role of a Careers Hub?

Careers Hubs are a central part of the government’s Careers Strategy. The aim is to help all secondary schools and colleges implement a high quality careers programme to help young people make well informed decisions around their future.

The expansion of the Careers Hub model follows a successful pilot, which has already led to significant improvements in 20 areas across England, especially in disadvantaged communities.

Careers Hub Luton will help to transform careers education across Luton, Dunstable and Houghton Regis by linking the education sector with businesses and helping secondary schools and colleges achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks

The Hub will continue to work within the wider Enterprise Adviser Network across the SEMLEP region to combine and utilise more widely the best practice developed by schools, colleges and employers.

Who we are

Our role will be to broker the relationship between the world of work and the education sector, to help support the delivery of high quality careers support for students by:

  • Building networks: linking schools & colleges to business volunteers & other providers through the Careers Hub

  • Supporting careers leaders: providing training & support for Careers Leaders in schools & colleges

  • Backing the Gatsby Benchmarks: supporting implementation of a best practice standard for careers support

Our Funders

The Careers Hub is established by Careers and Enterprise Company in partnership with Luton Council, South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) and Central Bedfordshire Council.

With a joint aim to connect businesses and education; and achieve quality careers education, information, advice and guidance in secondary school and colleges.
